Chocolate Zucchini Cake

Flat Belly Recipe

1 and 3/4 c whole wheat pastry flour
1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 csugar
1/2 c low-fat vanilla yogurt
1/3 c canola oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 and 1/2 c shredded zucchini
3 c semisweet chocolate chips, divided

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat an 11″ x 8″ baking pan with cooking spray.
2. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
3. Whisk the eggs, sugar, yogurt, oil, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Whisk in the zucchini and 11/2 cups of the chips. Stir into the flour mixture just until blended. Spread into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned and a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
4. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 1/2 cups chips over the cake. Spread with a small spatula as they melt to form an icing, placing back into the warm oven, if needed, for about 1 minute.

Thai Peanut Noodles

*Flat Belly Diet

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon honey
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/8 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes
8 ounces soba or whole wheat noodles
3 carrots, cut into small matchsticks (about 2 cups)
2 scallions, chopped

Combine the peanut butter, water, honey, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, oil, and pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Set aside.
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the noodles and return to a boil. Cook the noodles for 4 minutes, then stir in the carrots. Cook for 2 minutes longer, or until the carrots are crisp-tender. Drain the noodles and carrots and transfer to a large bowl.
Toss the noodles and carrots with the scallions and peanut sauce. Serve immediately.

NC Budget State Crunch 2011 | Wilmington NC real estate

The Recommended Adjustments to the 2010 – 2011 budget for North Carolina was released yesterday by Gov.  Beverly Perdue.  “Gov. Perdue’s proposed budget prepares North Carolina to take off as the economy improves by recommending strategic investments in four priority areas:

1. creating jobs,
2. ensuring every student graduates high school prepared for success,
3. setting government straight and
4. building safer and healthier communities.

These investments will bolster our state’s recovery and help ensure North Carolina emerges from this recession as the best place in the world to live and work.”    For the entire 2010 – 2011 budget recommendations read more here…  Gov. Perdue has stressed that painful cuts  will have to be made in matters of the state, but that she would like to spare laying off any teachers or teacher assistants.  There would be accountability on the part of the teachers though, or decisions would have to be made about replacements.  To see the fact sheets for some of the items listed in the budget read more here…

These are some General Items that were to be noted.

2. Detail in this document may not add to the totals due to rounding.

3. At the time of this writing, none of the full-year appropriations bills for 2011 was enacted; therefore, the programs and activities normally provided for in the full-year appropriations bills were operating under a continuing resolution (P.L. 111–242, as amended). For those programs and activities, data for the current year column (2011) in the budget

 

Appendix, and in tables that show details on discretionary spending amounts in the Analytical Perspectives volume, reflect the annualized level provided by the continuing resolution. In the main Budget volume, the Historical Tables volume, and in tables that include total discretionary spending in the Analytical Perspectives

Pulled Pork Sliders with Creamy Coleslaw

From:  Flat Belly Diet! for Men

12 ounces lean pork tenderloin, trimmed, cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
4 cups classic coleslaw mix
1/4 cup canola oil mayonnaise
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
8 (1/3-ounce) whole wheat potato rolls

Combine the pork, barbecue sauce, and 2 tablespoons vinegar in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 60 to 65 minutes, until very tender. Remove from the heat and shred with two forks.
Meanwhile, combine the remaining 1 tablespoon vinegar, coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, sugar, and pepper in a bowl and toss well.
Fill the rolls with pork and serve with coleslaw.

It’s a maxim in real estate that the three most crucial factors in selecting a house are “location, location, location.” It’s also true! No matter how wonderful the house is, the location is key to how well you’ll like living in it and how well it sells when you’re ready to move on. Before you buy, carefully check the following factors to be sure the house you like is really the one you want to live in.

Location:

Consider destinations
Where will family members go most often from this new location? How easy is it to reach those places from the house? How accessible are schools, churches, grocery stores, medical care, public transportation, shopping malls and emergency services?

Be sure rooms have a view
What is the view from the house and yard? Is the yard right for your anticipated activities? What uses are possible for nearby undeveloped land? Is a new road or commercial development planned?

Check around the clock
Is rush hour traffic a problem? What will be the impact of special events such as local high-school games or church picnics? Crash test the driveway. How easy is it to get into and out of the driveway?

Be service conscious
What utilities serve the property? Are the rates competitive? Do you want an all-electric house, or do you want gas or oil heat? Where will you get your mail? Are there any easements?
