USS Arizona Memorial

The USS Memorial located in Pearl Harbor Honolulu Hawaii is the final resting place of 1, 102 of the 1,177 sailors that were killed on the USS Arizona in the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 7, 1941 by the Japanese imperial forces. This attack on Pearl Harbor brought the United States into World War II.

The memorial was dedicated in 1962 and is accessible only by boat.  It hovers on  top of the hull of the USS Arizona. More than a million people annually visit and pay respects to the memorial.  The visitor center is run by the National Parks service and was declared a National Landmark on May 5, 1989

The Remembrance service in Wilmington NC will be at the Battleship today at 12:55 PM
